'Old Country Bumpkin' Becomes a 'Master Swordsman'
In English, the anime's light novel source is published by J-Novel Club. The classic tale circles the life path of Beryl Gardinant, a so-called 'plain old man' residing in an isolated village, where he runs a Dojo as a sword instructor. Faded are his past aspirations of gaining repute as a master swordsman—yet, his dormant dreams get a fresh lease on life when a legendary former pupil resurfaces with news of Beryl's appointment as a special instructor for Liberion Order's knights. Thrust into a whirlwind journey, Beryl reconnects with his old students in the capital city—high-ranking knights, proficient wizards, and even the top-ranked adventurer. The question that baffles him is, why would his successful, proficient former trainees desire his guidance again? It's left to be seen if Beryl can fill his new role and grab moments of tranquility amidst his devoted disciples.
