Shangri-La Frontier Season 2 Excitement Builds with New Trailers and Themes

The highly-anticipated second installment of Shangri-La Frontier took center stage again recently with the release of the trailer for the second course of its second season. The exhilarating journey of the adventurer known as Traveling Wolf enters a critical phase in the 'Be Ambitious Arc', with the grandeur unfolding on January 5 following the launch of the twelfth episode. This season, comprising two consecutive courses is brought to life by the talented team at Studio C2C.

Fresh Themes and Characters Add to the Intrigue

Innovation and intrigue find a pleasant confluence in Shangri-La Frontier's second course with a riveting new opening theme song, “Frontiers”, by Awich, featured in the freshly released trailer. Meanwhile, CVLTE contributes to the mood-setting with their ending theme song, “realitYhurts”. Adding to the depth of the narrative are two characters, Akane Akitsu and Ceecrue, who are also showcased in the new visual.

Akane, a player marked by one of The Seven Collosi, is supported by her helper, Ceecrue, from Rabituza. Both characters make their debut in the latest episode and play a prominent role in the newly revealed trailer.

An Impressive Line-up of Talent Behind the Scenes

The second season of Shangri-La Frontier capitalizes on the successful formula of the first season, which also had a two-course run from October 2023. Returning to helm the sequel is Toshiyuki Kubooka, paired with Kurashima Ayumi in the role of character designer and chief animation director. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu directs the series composition, with the trio of Hirokawa Keiichi, Takada Ryuichi, and Takahashi Kuniyuki orchestrating the music.

Stellar Cast Returns to Charm Audiences

The ensemble voice cast, featuring well-established artists, ensures an engrossing viewing experience for anime fans. Giving life to the central character, Sunraku or Rakuro Hizutome, is Yuma Uchida while Azumi Waki voices Psyger-0 or Rei Saiga. Yoko Hikasa, Makoto Koichi, Rina Hidaka, and Akio Otsuka complete the main cast, portraying Arthur Pencilgon or Towa Amane, Oicazzo or Kei Uomi, Emul, and Vysache respectively.

A Brief Journey Back to the Origin

Shangri-La Frontier owes its origins to the web novel by artist Ryosuke Fuji and creator Katarina, serialized on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website since May 2017. The subsequent manga adaptation found a home in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine and is also available in English from Kodansha USA.

The story brilliantly captures the gaming adventures of Rakuro Hizutome, otherwise known as Sunraku. Despite encountering the worst aspects of gaming with bugs and inherent flaws, Sunraku's passion for gaming prevails. He abruptly gets engrossed in a 'god-tier' game, Shangri-La Frontier, savoring the challenging yet interesting features of its expansive universe.
