TL;DR: The NFL has filed a grievance against the NFL Players Association (NFLPA), alleging that running backs were advised by the union to fake injuries as a negotiating tactic. The NFL claims that this advice violates the collective bargaining agreement. The NFLPA has denied these allegations and filed a response to the arbitrator. The review process is currently ongoing. This issue is the first major challenge for new NFLPA executive director Lloyd Howell. Several NFL running backs faced difficulties in securing long-term contract extensions this past offseason.
