TL;DR: Lions' rookie tight end Sam LaPorta is off to an incredible start in the NFL. He now holds the record for the most catches by a tight end in their first three games, with 18 catches so far. LaPorta's performance is reminiscent of Keith Jackson, who set the previous record in 1988 and went on to have a successful career. LaPorta is also the first rookie tight end to achieve at least five catches in each of his first three games. The Lions are pleased with his performance since drafting him 34th overall from Iowa.
