ZandraJoi
I honestly prefer the Desktop. My husband uses the Laptop for his own use but he doesn’t get on the computer too much. What’s to like? The Desktop has a bigger screen, it’s on a desk (lol) so it’s easier on the body where you aren’t just slouching on the couch or bed. I can’t imagine using that small keyboard to type. I use an ergonomic keyboard & mouse otherwise my wrists will be hurting. Same too with a tiny cell phone. What do you prefer & why?
Kyng
Laptop for me, since I need the portability... not as much as I did when I was at university, but I still want to take it on holidays and such.
Uncrowned Guard
I much prefer a desktop, but due to my job keeping me out and about, I require a laptop. Currently have a 17" Omen laptop and a thunderbolt docking station at home to try and enable that desktop experience when possible.
Shortie
I use both a desktop and a laptop but the laptop I have at the moment is almost 9 years old, only runs Linux now and the keyboard isn't working the greatest making it difficult to type. Due to that I use my desktop more so now than I used to but would love to get a new laptop if I was ever given the chance.
Grungie
For most people’s needs, having a laptop hooked up to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse wouldn’t feel that different compared to a desktop. If you couldn’t see the computer, would you even notice? If you’re mobile and need to take your laptop places, you get the added benefit of taking your computer places. I say this as a desktop user, but when I was more mobile, the laptop hooked up to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse didn’t hamper any experience.

IAs someone who does the same thing, I'd say the only difference really is a few cosmetics and a bit worse cost vs performance.

The cosmetics part is pointless if the computer is hidden away, and the cost vs performance is easily ignored if it doesn't affect functionality.

If you hide it all completely away then I doubt most users would ever be able to tell the difference. At least until they had to power it on. There’s a certain spec bump where that stuff reaches a limit.
Heatman
If I'm stuck at home, my first choice is always going to be using a desktop because it's specs is always better than that of a laptop. But unfortunately, it's impossible to move about with a desktop which is why my laptop plays a big role. It's what I use more often.
