Building a computer

Recommended Posts

I am not technically inclined whatsoever so I cannot imagine building one. However, I have great reverence for those who have the knowledge & know-how to build from scratch.

Our desktop & laptop is just Dell. We've always had good experiences with this brand so keep with what we know. I know others don't like them but we've had good luck for the amount we use it.

Do you build your own computer?

I don't think you need to give reverence towards people who can build a computer. It's not a difficult task in the slightest, it's just expensive Legos. (Wait... those are expensive too...)

There's websites available that essentially automate what components are compatible with each other, and the parts have pre-determined locations on the motherboard, because that's the only place they can physically connect.

It's really easy to train people on how to do it. First time you'll be physically involved, the second time you can shoulder surf and give pointers, and the third time they're basically unsupervised.

I am not a hardware specialist, I am not a software specialist either. I cannot think of building my own computer. Since I cannot do it myself, I will have to hire experts to build a computer and when I do that I will be spending a lot of money. So, building a computer is out of my mind at the moment.

I'm into web development, not fixing or building computers.  However I admire somebody who can, but I've never been interested in getting into it, even for money.  Anyway, I have considered buying a homemade computer, though due to getting a lower price.
