Snapchat is jumping on the AI selfie train with ‘Dreams’

Recommended Posts

From The Verge:

Snapchat has introduced a new feature called Dreams, which allows users to create generative AI selfies in the app's Memories section. Users upload real-life selfies and select from various themes such as doppelgangers or back-to-school. The first pack is free, while additional packs cost $1 as an in-app purchase. Dreams is currently available to Snapchat users in Australia and New Zealand, with access expanding to the rest of the world in the coming weeks. While the initial results may not accurately resemble users, Snap plans to add more AI options in the future. OpenAI's technology powers My AI chatbot, but Dreams is based on open-source technology created by Snap employees. The company also plans to allow users to add their friends to their Dreams, and Sponsored Dreams from companies like Disney or Pepsi will be introduced. With 397 million daily users and high content sharing rates, Dreams will likely attract millions of users to this generative AI experience.
