Apple TV+ has given audiences their first look into the highly anticipated World War II series, “Masters of the Air.” Today, the streaming giant confirmed the global premiere date for Friday, January 26, 2024. Viewers can expect to be swept back in time with this nine-episode limited series, which unites the iconic producing trio - Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman. This collaboration comes after their successful ventures with “Band of Brothers” and “The Pacific.”

From Book to Screen

“Masters of the Air,” inspired by Donald L. Miller’s critically acclaimed book, delves into the harrowing tales of the 100th Bomb Group, popularly known as the “Bloody Hundredth.” The storyline encapsulates the dangers these brave men faced, conducting bombing raids over Nazi Germany. At 25,000 feet in the air, grappling with life-threatening cold and insufficient oxygen, these soldiers fought not just a physical battle, but a psychological one too. Their courage, determination, and sacrifices were paramount in dismantling the tyranny of Hitler's Third Reich.

Gary Goetzman, the executive producer, highlighted the series as a tribute to the unwavering spirit of the 8th Air Force. “Tom and Steven have always wanted to bring to life what our author Don Miller has described as this unique event in warfare history. With Apple TV+ on board, we have amalgamated the expertise of an exceptional team, both in front and behind the camera.”

All-Star Cast and A Global Stage

Leading the stellar ensemble is Academy Award nominee Austin Butler, accompanied by Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, Rafferty Law, Academy Award nominee Barry Keoghan, among others. The series promises to transport viewers from the serene landscapes of southeast England to the grim realities of German prisoner-of-war camps.

Recognized for its original content, Apple TV+ continues to be a significant contender in the streaming world. Since its inception on November 1, 2019, it has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades, celebrating shows like the multi-Emmy Award-winning “Ted Lasso” and the Oscar-winning “CODA.” "Masters of the Air" stands as yet another testament to Apple TV+'s commitment to quality, impactful storytelling.
