Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire - Kaiju Running Debate

Recommended Posts

The new trailer for "Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire" has stirred up quite the debate in the community, and it's all about Godzilla... running! Yes, you read that right. In the latest footage, we see the iconic kaiju sprinting through a crystal-studded cavern, and it's got fans talking.

Traditionally, movies featuring colossal creatures like Godzilla and King Kong demand a certain suspension of disbelief from audiences. However, this new portrayal of Godzilla running has pushed the boundaries for some fans. The argument? Some say that the quick movements diminish the massive scale and weightiness that are characteristic of these legendary monsters. There's even a camp that feels the animation makes the apex predators look a bit goofy.

On the other hand, enthusiasts of the classic Japanese live-action Godzilla movies have come to the defense, citing instances where the "scaly big boy" has used various unique biological moves. Remember the tail-slide and double kick from the 1973 "Godzilla vs Megalon," or Godzilla's backward flying in "Godzilla vs Hedorah"?

This month, we had the chance to interview Adam Wingard, the director behind the upcoming movie and the 2021 hit "Godzilla vs Kong." Wingard shared some insights into the antagonist of the new movie, a "devilish Kong-type character," set to challenge both Godzilla and Kong in a way we haven't seen before.

So, what's your take on this?

  • Are you for or against a sprinting Godzilla?
  • Does it break the sense of realism in the kaiju world, or is it a welcome addition?
  • How do you feel about the direction Adam Wingard is taking with the new antagonist in "Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire"?

This movie never meet my expectations on it and to be frank with you, I wasn't surprised it came out that way. Godzilla Minus One just came out and they jumped and rushed this one too.
