Do some people deserve bullying?

Jason

Recommended Posts

This is a dark topic, so I don't mean to offend people.   However, though, in a free-speech arena it's worth a thought.   Anyway, myself, I think some have it coming.  For instance, if someone is just really mean and people object to it, then wouldn't that bring in passive aggression and bullying?

Note, though, I don't agree with bullying even people who deserve it.  My Christian beliefs teach to deal with evil by avoiding it or challenging it head-on.   I don't have time to play games or answer cruelty with cruelty.

Well, it helps if we start by defining "bullying". I put the word into Google, and the first definition I got was this one, from acas.org.uk:

Quote

Although there is no legal definition of bullying, it can be described as unwanted behaviour from a person or group that is either:

  • offensive, intimidating, malicious or insulting
  • an abuse or misuse of power that undermines, humiliates, or causes physical or emotional harm to someone

So, does anybody deserve this behaviour? I wouldn't say so... there are situations where the victim is perhaps doing something to provoke the bullies, but even then, I think bullying is a poor way of handling the situation. There's usually some authority figure (whether it's a teacher at school; a boss at work; an admin on a website; or, in extreme cases, the police) who can handle it better.

I'm with Kyng. I don't think anyone "deserves" it, but there are people who either act in a way, or do things that should have seen it coming.

If everywhere you go has people give you shit for the same thing, you need to sit down and evaluate what you're doing and how that angers people. Is it something people are just assholes about? Or are you doing something annoying?

I think the American society is on a path of raising weak kids.  Kids have to learn to adult-up. Well, what I was I found out that appearing strong was the best thing, not actually fighting.  It's the same idea with possessing a nuclear arsenal. 😉

I have the same thoughts too because with how kids behave these days, it's very obvious that they are weak from the core of their foundation. This is why they are stronger only online being toxic and all but in real person, they can't man up in any way.

For me, the only who deserves to be bullied is a bully himself or herself. Let a bigger bully deal with the person.
