The flimsy cotton ones have been proven by the bigwigs even to offer very little protection. Plus, if this virus was so horrible, why didn't they have biohazard bins to put said masks & gloves in?

As for protecting others, I am only responsible for my own self. I have seen people wear masks & then pull it down to smoke. Or go through a McDonald's drive-thru & order junk. This is the only virus where they used the excuse of "protecting others" to this extreme. They made the healthy stay home using the excuse we may be "carriers".

People were so afraid of dying that they forgot how to actually LIVE.

The way COVID is spread is through someone who has it (or is carrying it) to exhale it and someone inhales it. If you take that into account, that's why social distancing, masks, and lockdowns were pushed.

Biohazard bins are for proper disposal of things like needles, and other things that you can contract things through physical contact. Since COVID is contracted through airborne means and not physical means, you don't have to dispose of the masks in biohazard bins. You won't catch COVID from touching a mask like you would Hepatitis from a used needle.

The whole "protecting others" bit is because people weren't doing it. If you were walking around without a mask (or dumber, wear a chin diaper), and you were unknowingly carrying COVID, you could have exhaled it to someone healthy, and they would have gotten sick because of you.

The McDonalds rant is really pointless, as you getting high cholesterol from eating a Big Mac doesn't affect anyone else but you. Cigarettes are debatable due to second hand smoke, but if you're far away from people, you're not hurting anyone but yourself.

So, you're agreeing that masks are worthless since the virus gains entry elsewhere such as the eyeballs?

The mask was more to protect you from spreading it to others, and not you contracting it from others.

  3. I’ve seen some variations of “avant garde” music where it feels like an excuse to not actually be able to play your instruments. Nobody is in key, time, or anything with each other.

I’ve heard good examples in the genre, and while I don’t like it, I can at least tell the difference between good and bad.

  4. Like mentioned earlier, it’s never a set in stone rule that every manga is better than the anime. In most of the shows I’ve seen, you’re not really missing much of anything. Sometimes the manga fans can be overzealous and claim that skipped self contained chapter was totally relevant to the plot, but it never did. Or any and all differences are an abomination. I think people got burned on a few shows that deviated too much, so they threw on a blanket statement over all anime adaptations.

I personally find comedy series to be funnier animated. I found some scenes in the manga to be nowhere near as funny as the animated versions.

The more common thing I run across is that the anime only ran for one, maybe two seasons, and the manga is either several chapters past that, or is actually completed.

  5. I have CarPlay, but it requires I plug my phone in. Sometimes I’m too lazy to plug it in for just a short drive, so I listen to the radio.

My annoyance with the radio is how often they play the same songs over and over. Apparently the local classic rock station only recognizes 20 songs that came out between 1970 and 1989.

My favorite line from that station is “we own the entire Eagles catalog”. I didn’t know the Eagles only wrote one song.

  6. I miss the “traditional” trolls where they just took the piss out of a community and would show how silly they are. Like making a comment to piss off an uptight community.

After more people started using the internet, troll means “anyone that’s an asshole”.

I had good experiences with Xeon, granted they were limited experiences.  I never really played with AMD's Epic stuff.

I'm a server guy by trade, so I am biased in my line of work.

My next work laptop will likely be a 14" device.  Although my main goal is to have LTE onboard and that is proving to be a challenge for options.

Have you tried looking into those USB dongles that do that?

  9. I've had it since day 1, I haven't ran into any issues yet. I prefer it to Windows 10.

I also remember "everyone" on the internet hated Windows 10, but it's the typical cycle of hate then "I refuse to ditch it" whenever a new Windows OS comes out.

  10. I don't think you need to give reverence towards people who can build a computer. It's not a difficult task in the slightest, it's just expensive Legos. (Wait... those are expensive too...)

There's websites available that essentially automate what components are compatible with each other, and the parts have pre-determined locations on the motherboard, because that's the only place they can physically connect.

It's really easy to train people on how to do it. First time you'll be physically involved, the second time you can shoulder surf and give pointers, and the third time they're basically unsupervised.
