This spring will be exciting for the gaming community in the Central Susquehanna area. Five area schools,  including Danville, Southern Columbia, Shamokin, Warrior Run, and Montgomery area will have the opportunity to join an “Esports” Gaming League. “Rocket League” or Soccer with cars, will be the first game of the spring in the new league. Jeffrey Ryan the district’s director of information technology states that participants can compete in their own homes, utilizing their computers and gaming equipment.

Between 15-and 20 students have signed, including 10 from Southern Columbia alone to compete.  The league included about an hour and a half of practice every week. Practicing defensive and offensive moves, and working together as a team to come up with the highest score.

Students log onto the Discord server to participate in the league and can communicate online with each other. A championship tournament will be held in May.
