Did you ever crack your knuckles?

Recommended Posts

I never did. My middle sister used to when we were younger. The crack reminded me of nails on a chalkboard lol There is conflicting reports saying those that cracked their knuckles develop arthritis later in life. For those who did, why did you crack & do you feel it hurt your hands later?

I crack mine quite often.  I don't really know why I do it, but it is just a thing.  Overall the whole long term damage seems to be mostly based on myth and while they have not debunked all of the possible long term issues, it seems like none of the stated issues really started as a medical finding to begin with.

I haven't cracked my knuckles over a long period of time. It was some years ago when I started working out newly, all of my body was a bit stiff, so I tend to pop them easily. But over a period of time, my body adapted. It was my ankle that I dislocated last year. It was very painful.

I always remember when I was a kid, we were always told that if we cracked our knuckles it would cause arthritis. It wasn't until a few years ago that I found out that was not the case and it is actually a good thing to crack your knuckles once in a while.

My eldest tends to do it and I know my brother does as well but I can't say it is something I do often if at all.

I did when I was younger. I also cracked my neck. Do not make a habit of this! I have neck problems now because of it. I get horrific occipital migraines (occipital neuralgia) now if I accidentally crack my neck or turn it too much/too fast.
