  1. Just because "everybody" does it doesn't make it right. We've become a society where respect has gone by the wayside. Swear words don't have the same meaning they used to when I was younger. But doesn't mean they should still be used.

    Kids follow fads. If it's on TV, they want it. Even if it's not good for them nor for those around them!

    But I don't have much confidence that the times will change back.

    Some swearing is fine but it's become such everyday words that's it's too commonplace. It still hurts however!

    Kids learn by adults, just as they do by TV. The more the adults around them become nonchalant, the more the kids will LEARN that. & a time frame? With streaming services available 24/7 & shows not being monitored, that won't work.

    Hello, all

    My name is Mr Henry and I am very excited to be the latest member here. I already know a couple of accounts registered here and look forward to building some interactions with everyone.

    Nice to see you here Henry! I'll enjoy the conversations we will have in here 🙂

  3. Babies are being born with toxicity. There's no way around it anymore. Even if we get rid of all the plastics, the damage is done. Those who invented plastics didn't foresee the side effects decades later. Cleaning the oceans & land will remove the bigger pieces but microplastics are embedded in the Earth now. Since they are liken to nanoparticles, dust, we breathe it in.

    It's no wonder we just keep getting sicker & sicker!

    We already know it's in the Earth & in our bodies. We have to find Natural ways to help our bodies adjust. But Big Pharma will just keep pushing meds.

    What do you figure this holds for science and medicine?  Do you think this will lead to major breakthroughs?   How might this knowledge be implemented?

    Creatures evolve & adapt. Those who are religious may not like the evolve term but honestly, all creatures have "evolved". We adapt, become resistant, become NOT resistant. That is evolving.

    I can see how after awhile, animals carry genes to fight off infections & diseases.

    While I believe in natural immunity, once humans get their hands on it & try to "figure it out", they'll exploit the whole concept & turn it from something natural into a money-maker complete with side effects. It won't be the same anymore.

    As much as this technology worries me, and as much as I wouldn't be willing to touch it until it's proven itself... I can't help but be impressed by how much it's helped this patient 😄

    I hope it continues to deliver positive results for him - and for others 🙂 .

    Before you know it, humans will be part AI!

    I guess it's not much different than a pacemaker helping the heart pump. Or hearing aids that let the doctor know how long you were wearing them. Only thing I don't like is the Big Brother aspect & the fact that tech, ANY tech, can be hacked.

    Reminds me of the TV show I watched: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humans_(TV_series)

  6. I'm an ex-Christian & studied the bible several times. Christians are worried about the Mark of the Beast. However, I think for most of them it's more a fairytale. They believed in it, was pounded into them at church. But they were thinking it'd be a fast implement. Tech moves slow & that's how you get people to be unawares. You make something small, get people used to a little here & there. The very thing they preached about many years ago IS happening now. Just think of how they used that Virus to herd people together & to separate them with "tracking chips" in the phone.

    Now, I'm not saying I believe the bible. But I do believe people read it & make some things come true. The What came first, the chicken or the egg?

    As for the topic, No, I would not have this. I don't believe in having FitBits & Smart Appliances that can "read" your life. I certainly don't want an implant IN my body.

  7. I have a desktop & my husband has the laptop. Both are Dell brands as we have had good luck with those. The laptop is also great when we go away. While we don't do vacations like we used to, we do visit my parents an hour away & have spent the night there. I prefer the desktop personally.

  8. I live in Michigan, northern. I feel Southern people tend to be more laid back. Maybe it's the easier climate to live in. But you'll find rude & not rude people in various areas. I find the most rude ones in the city. Country people tend to either keep to themselves & don't take crap or band together in unity.

    • The old version of my current one on ZetaBoard (if that counts);
    • The chess forum that predated that one (from 2004-09);
    • A resource board that got nowhere.

    So, either two or three, depending on how you're counting!

    I would count 3 🙂

    What are some mistakes you've made & learned from in running forums?

  10. A lot of fast food is processed so it can be made & shipped long distances. Some chains prefer to keep the recipe universal so if you go to one, you'll have the same taste at others.

    They may be cutting down on flavors & spices to cut costs. People will still buy it up due to the convenience.

  11. There are many reasons to move out but age should not be a factor. Some at 18, as long as they have a steady job & help out, may not be able to take care of the real-world issues such as paying bills on time. Some may find they are close to their parents & help out.

    We have a decent amount of wildlife around here. I would like more of it though. I started putting out hummingbird feeders this last summer and it has been a treat to watch them. My cat absolutely loves to sit in the window and watch them buzz and zip around. I would like to get more animals coming closer to my home, especially to keep insect populations in check. What are some easy (and cheap) ways to encourage this?

    What is best is to work with not against nature. See what is in your area & plant native plants, flowers, trees that you know the birds & wildlife will enjoy & use. We have hummingbird feeders, bird feeders, bird houses, bat houses. It also depends on where one lives & if there are rules. We live rural, on wooded acreage. So we are not confined to a small apartment & limited.

    Where do you live? Do you have many trees nearby? What about neighbors that would be bothered by more wildlife traffic?
