  1. It's sad what us as a society has become. The internet is wonderful to learn new things & make friends we would never otherwise get to know. We can get help for various things. However, that same anonymity has enabled bullies to up their game. Even people who wouldn't think twice about bullying somebody face to face (say a scrawny kid next to a tall kid) are enabled in a bad way to bully.

Being a Christian, I think people should pray.  However, I am cynical about the movement to seemingly impose prayer on people outside a religious school setting.   I mean, as I said before, there's this whole conservative movement that thinks prayer will do a 360 on moral decline in the US (and other countries).

People should pray. If their heart is in it & it's their choice. Being mandatory or your mind being elsewhere is just rote. Don't they realize the god they are praying to will know the difference between a pure heart & one doing just because it's the "in" thing?

We are on our own journey. This is not to change Beliefs. But to treat people as the Human BEing we are first & foremost.
Please do not take the Human BEing (BE capitalized) without my consent & a nod to HOST. It’s only Respectful. Thank you 🙂

I created a Human BEings board. Emphasis on the BE part.

My philosophy is: I can accept the person even if I don't accept what they do or believe.

I ask for that same in return.

It's a private board where we can Agree to Disagree in a Respectful manner. 🙂

Yeah, that's for sure lol. It's better than losing. Well, guess what? They've eventually turned up big time in the last match played yesterday in the Round 16. They beat Cameroon 🇨🇲 2-0 soundly. Everyone in my country was very happy last night 😂

Awesome! Have you been to a game yourself?

This is the reason why we have so much hate for one another all over the world. These walls and drawing lines is what leads to all the war we are seeing all over because one will never like to concede their spot to another. Religion have never been the problem, it's the people who are practicing it that's going at it the wrong way.

I agree with you! However, we do need walls up as boundaries UNTIL people start acting like Human Beings. Only then can we accept each other.

They are very annoying to be very honest, I always have them turned off any website/forum that I'm making use of. I have my schedule on how to visit each sites throughout the week. So, when I come online, I can get on with what have happened or if I get mail about something important, I'll jump on the site immediately.

I have a schedule as well. Then I can get to all the forums I want to & be able to spend time on them.

If I get a PM, I tend to try to view it as soon as I can. Unless they give a snippet & it's a generic one for a holiday or updates.

    Thank you @ZandraJoi

Honestly, we are not playing well in the tournament so far. We still managed to win our second match with 1-0 scoreline after being outplayed. If our players doesn't up their game we won't go far in the tournament.

    A win is still a win 🙂

Good Morning everybody! A dreary, albeit warmer day today. Will be able to take longer walks with our dog without having to trudge through 2 feet of snow lol

  9. I find it annoying but I also use the Desktop. I'm not one to use the phone, ours is only for emergencies anyways. But even if I did, I was trying to think & I believe I would still find it annoying to be doing something else & something pops up on my screen. I'll see the notifications when I log into a forum & when I'm ready to react to it.

    What about you @Heatman? 🙂

Good afternoon everyone I’m back after being away from forums and websites for mental health reasons. It hasn’t been good so I had to take a step back. Anyway I’m looking forward to posting with you guys again 🙂

That is great you were able to practice Self-Care! Forums are quite welcoming back to its members 🙂

It's nice to have you back @Lucy Lacemaker. Our health comes first in anything we do because when you compromise on it, there's a very high possibility of things becoming more ugly. It's good to have you back once again.

My day is going very well and we (Nigeria) just won our first match in the ongoing AFCON tournament. I'm so very happy.

Congrats on Nigeria winning your first match 🙂

Seriously, humans and what they play around with science can be very stupid at sometimes. I don't understand the appeal where someone would just wake up and want to crossbreed a dog with a wild animal for home use as a pet? What's their purpose? Scientists who do that rubbish, what's their plan?

I agree with you! Some designer dogs crossed with wolves have had to be put down. Not the creature's fault.

  12. If we talk about this in a Fantasy realm, that would be one thing. We can think of all sorts of answers. Reminds me of the cartoon  The Wuzzles which was a fun, entertaining cartoon but was just that. Fiction. Not meant to be taken literally.

I really wish humans wouldn't play around with Mother Nature. We have designer dogs that are crossed between other breeds. When we play with fire, unfortunately, us humans are not the ones who get burned, but rather the animals are the ones to suffer.

Been quite sick since the New Year, so not off to a great start.

That's terrible! It's that time of year where so many people are sick. I hope you are better by now 🙂

Definitely some good replies!  Forums are certainly benefiting from long term relationships with other forums and their members for sure!

The challenges getting members to hop software is also definitely a problem for admins since we can't exactly up to the "next best thing" every couple years.  Granted you bring up an excellence point with having a how-to guide.  In fact I might work on some things around here to help new users as well.

I made a How to navigate this forum guide for my forum. It was when I was on Social Media & people had joined but were fumbling around at how forums work.

Look forward to see what you have planned 🙂

  15. @Uncrowned Guard

Do you think the challenges faced by social media could lead to a revival of forums?

No, I don't unfortunately. As they are two completely different entities. Those on Social Media will not be content with the "busyness" of forums. They would go instead to Reddit, Discord, or anything similar to a Social Media.

People who are used to Social Media will be majorly intimidated by how "big" forums are. Forums are not bigger; it's just at a glance. Whereas Social Media, all posts are hidden way down. Social Media people are not looking for discussions & deep rooted friendships. They rely on "LIKES" too much & instant gratification. They are used to a FaceBook group having 10,000 members & having replies & posts constantly. Even the bigger forums don't have that much activity. & wouldn't necessarily be for a specific post.

How do you see the future of forums in comparison to major social media platforms?

Forums will still stay as we have become a cult classic in a way. There are MANY who are Team Forum who will do our best to keep forums alive. Regardless of where Social Media goes.

Could forums benefit from a shift away from traditional search engines?

I think so. Only ONE forum, a promotion forum when I first started, did I find via a search engine. All others I found by gradually becoming a member & then another member of multiple forums. I would say that is true for Social Media as well. You find groups when you are on a Platform. i.e. if you are on FaceBook, you would search ON FaceBook for other groups.

  16. @Uncrowned Guard

"In other words, promotion forums are full of admins looking to boost their own sites, not necessarily to join others."

That is exactly what Promotion Forums are. They are to PROMOTE your forum, to get help, support, feedback. How to make it better & more attractive. While others have joined another's forum, it's more to help each other out.

"A point to ponder: research shows users are generally reluctant to leave a service they're accustomed to, even for a better one. This inertia is evident in social media and likely applies to forums too. People committed to a particular forum are not easily swayed to join another."

Not unless they just do it as a means of being supportive.

Have you had success with promotion forums?

Yes, I have. But people have to realize they have to put the work into it. You can't just Promote & Run & figure you'll get members & help. You have to be active, to get your name out there so people will recognize you. Promotion Forums also utilize Services such as Packages, Exchanges, Reviews that can help boost the activity.

What strategies have worked best for you in attracting new members?

Just having my name be out there & people have gotten to know me.

This is a simple thing but one I feel is very much often overlooked- Kindness & Respect. People want to join forums they feel a part of, not just a number. Events can be nice but they don't KEEP the members there, not long term.

Do you think forum users are as hesitant as social media users to try new platforms?

Some people are deadset on only joining or not joining certain platforms. I've known some people who are only on Proboards & only would join Proboards' forums. Flipside, many have had issues (PB has gone downhill unfortunately) so will NOT join PB any longer.

Some platforms can be hard to navigate. The Staff needs to have a How-To Guide available for new users.
